Maria Koethler, age 97, of Chilliwack, BC, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, May 12, 2016 at Chilliwack General Hospital surrounded by members of her family. Born November 13, 1918, in Plum Coulee, Manitoba, she was the daughter of the late Maria and Klaas Wall.
Maria embraced the Christian faith, attending the German Church of God at the time of her passing.
Maria was predeceased by her husband John Koethler in 1971, as well as her daughter, Anna, and sons, Isaac and John.
Maria moved many times throughout her life including time in the Mennonite communities of Mexico. She happily settled in Chilliwack many years ago. Her most precious times were while she was in the company of her family and friends, especially when there was music involved.
She is survived by two loving sisters Katrina and Margaret, her devoted children Nick, Mary, Hank, Jacob, Peter, Neil, Anne, Betty and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous other extended relatives.
Memorial services and reception for Maria will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Broadway Church located at 46611 Maple Avenue in Chilliwack, with pastor Brix officiating. Burial will follow at Vedder View Gardens Cemetery in Sardis. Serving as pallbearers will be her sons, Nick, Hank, Jacob, Pete, Neil and her grandson, Jeremy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to the Church of God or the charity of your choice.
