Margaret was taken to her eternal home to be with her heavenly Father on July 25, 2021 at the age of 93. Margaret was born to Charles and Rosetta Rogers of Vancouver, B.C. on May 30, 1928.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, sister Jeanne, brother Oliver and sister in- law Anne and long-time friend Jean Empey.
She leaves behind her nephew Edward Rogers, niece Suzanne Hamlin and their families. Margaret committed her life to Jesus Christ at an early age and attended 10th Avenue Alliance Church growing up. During a service she listened to a missionary from Mali speak and knew that this was what she wanted for herself.
She graduated from Western Canadian Bible Institute in 1949 where she trained to be a missionary. In 1954, she graduated from Vancouver General Hospital as a nurse, studied French in France and then took midwifery in London, England.
On August 15, 1955 she departed for Africa and embarked on her dream of becoming a missionary in Mali. Over 16 years she endeared herself to the African people and her ministry consisted of developing a bush dispensary and maternity.
Upon returning to Vancouver, she worked at Vancouver General Hospital and Richmond General Hospital until her retirement in 1991.
Margaret loved to travel and camp by motorhome. Her friend, Jean, was the chauffeur and Margaret was the navigator.
A memorial service will be held at Chilliwack Alliance Church, 8700 Young Road, Chilliwack B.C. on September 2, 2021 at 1 pm. Interment at Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada, 30 Carrier Drive Suite 100, Toronto, Ontario M9W 5T7 to be used for the Women's and Children's Hospital, Koutiala, Republic of Mali, West Africa.
