October 16, 1928 - July 27, 2019
Margaret Ledoux was promoted to glory peacefully, late on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at the age of 90 years, at Chilliwack Cascades Hospice, with her youngest son Lyle at her side. Margaret had been in Chilliwack Hospital since July 21, and was moved to hospice on July 26. During her last week she was surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren, and yes, even granddogs and was never left alone.
Mom had a wonderful last day in Hospice surrounded by family and friends. She was her usual feisty and funny self. It was the perfect last day for mom and all of us.
Margaret's proudest accomplishment was giving birth to her three of children on the same day, in different places and different years. Marie was born on September 25, 1954 in Neepawa, Manitoba . Todd was born on September 25, 1956 also in Neepawa, Manitoba and Lyle was born on September 25, 1960 in Swan River, Manitoba. All large babies, naturally born. Mom was proud to tell everyone she knew.
Mom was born in Newdale, Manitoba at her parent's farmhouse. She had many fond memories of growing up there, and kept in touch with family and friends from the area her entire life.
Margaret is survived by her devoted children, Marie Hinkel (Dale), her children Matt and Lana Hinkel (Jesse), Todd Ledoux (Kristeen), his son Trevor (Kim) great grandson Ryder Ledoux, daughter Jessie Ledoux (Jon), Lyle Ledoux (Elizabeth) and his daughter Cassie (Luke). Her brother in law Lorne Ledoux (Marion) and sister in law Myrtle McTavish and many loving nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband, (our Dad), Albert Ledoux, May 26, 1989. Also predeceased by her parents, Les and Jessie McTavish, her sister Audrey and brother in law Earl Hooge and her brother Bruce McTavish.
Margaret and Albert moved to Chilliwack from The Pas, Manitoba in 1965. In 1967 they purchased Nicol and Else Hardware in Agassiz and it became Ledoux Hardware and Supply, growing to include Ledoux Plumbing and Heating. They both loved Agassiz and most important the people of Agassiz.
Margaret was very involved in the United Church and the United Church Women's League, and enjoyed the friendships formed by these connections.
Mom moved from Cypress Park and her beloved neighbours, into Logan Manor in September of 2018, she would not consider moving to Langley to be closer to family, as she did not want to leave her precious friends and Agassiz.
We share our love and gratitude to Mom's longest friend, Audree Annis, of Chilliwack for 70 years of true friendship, lots of love and laughs, road trips, and the occasional nip. So special that the two of you shared time on her last amazing day.
The family would like to thank all of Margaret's friends in Agassiz for giving her joy since 1967, especially Bill Senum, Jan and Fred Coates, Len and Coleen Marchand, Ann Wallis, for all of their love and selfless assistance to Mom in her later years., A special thank you to Dr. Milne for his many years of care, to Diana and the wonderful staff at Logan Manor, and the very special people at Cascade Hospice.
As per Mom's wishes, the family will plan a memorial graveside service to occur in two months' time. A notice of such service and details will be placed in both Chilliwack and Agassiz papers, closer to that time.
