January 8, 1934 - April 30, 2025

Margaret passed away at Cascade Hospice after a brief stay. She is survived by daughters Colleen Northgraves and Pat Clark (Neil), grandsons Paul (Katie) and Tony (Jessica) as well as great grandchildren Ember and Casey. She also leaves her sister Marion Rendall (Allan), sisters in law Lorraine Thomson, Joan Thomson, Jean Northgraves, Norma Beer, Jean Bacigalupo, nieces, nephews, their families and many friends.

She was predeceased by Don, her husband of 71 years, parents George and Nellie Thomson, as well as brothers Gordie and Charlie Thomson.

Margaret was born in the Chilliwack General Hospital and grew up here on a small dairy farm. Her family's Scottish values of thrift, a strong work ethic, equality, loyalty to family and generosity of spirit stayed with her.

After marrying Don at 19, she became his partner in their dairy operation followed by adventures in Savona, Pavilion Lake and Vernon before returning to Chilliwack in 2016.

Always the entrepreneur, she worked in the general store they co-owned in Savona and in later years had side ventures including house parties selling candles, sewing items to sell at craft markets, and partnering with her sister in Lady M Fashions, a clothing store on Wellington Street.

Organizing gatherings of friends and extended family was one of Margaret's specialties. She made sure everyone in her world received birthday and anniversary cards. Her memory for events and details was beyond question. Strong minded, some might say stubborn, green thumb extraordinaire, the personification of "git'er done", Margaret was a model of strength and resilience for her family.

The family wishes to thank Dr. D. Botha for his compassionate care, and the ladies of Modern Day Home Health Care for their respect, support, kindness and friendship for Margaret.

At one last party, Margaret and Don will both be celebrated on Monday, May 5 from 1 to 4 pm at the Chilliwack Curling Club, 45550 Spadina Avenue, Chilliwack.
