Margaret Helen CHARLES

Margaret Helen Charles, age 75, passed away quietly at Chilliwack Hospital on September 1, 2005.

She was born on May 3, 1930 in Winnipegosis, Manitoba; the youngest of 3 children of Alex and Mary Samatte. She grew up there, attending school and helping with the family farm. She eventually moved to Winnipeg where she worked as a cook and housekeeper. Over the years she gained a reputation for her excellent cooking abilities.

In 1956 while visiting an Aunt in Pacific, B.C. she met Fred Charles. They married on August 14, 1957 in Prince Rupert. She also lived with her family in Prince George before moving to Chilliwack in 1978. She was drawn to the Fraser Valley by the beauty of the mountains. The simplest things in life brought Marg the greatest joy. A love of birds and animals, the splendor of nature, a passion for gardening and her dear friends.

A Service of Rembrance will be held at the Chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Kevin Pentland officiating. Cremation, Henderson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Marg is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Patricia and Glenn Stevenson of Belleville, Ontario and Diane and William Reichardt of Burlington, Washington; grandchildren Sean and Ryan Stevenson and Many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Doreen Thompson and Grace Sanderson.
