Margaret Catherine CAMERON (nee Stobie)

June 14, 2004

Margaret Catherine Cameron, born in Ashiho, Manchuria, China, in 1910, died peacefully at her Heritage Village home in Chilliwack, B.C. on June 14, 2004.

Her loving husband and best friend of 64 years, Rev. W. Murray Cameron, predeceased her in 2000.

She is survived by her four children: Rev. Bruce (Belva) Cameron of Burnaby, B.C.; Dr. David (Dr. Margaret) Cameron of Halifax, Nova Scotia; Jean (Neville) Atkinson of Sidney, B.C.; Joy (Al) Berry of Sardis, B.C. Also survived by her five grandchildren: Ian (Masae) and David Cameron and their mother, Margaret; Dr. John (Susan) Cameron; Colin (Tamara) and Catherine Macleod and four great-grandchildren (Magdalena, Fiona, Sophia and Noah).

Margaret, the daughter of Scottish medical missionaries, lived in China until the age of eighteen when the family immigrated to Canada in order that the children attend U.B.C.

There she met her future husband with whom (after earning her Bachelor of Arts degree) she served in many United Church pastoral charges, including Rosedale. Since their retirement in 1971, Margaret enjoyed the friendships and fellowship of Chilliwack United Church, particularly the choir.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at Chilliwack United Church on Friday, June 18th, at 3:30 p.m.

If family and friends so desire, donations may be made in her name to the Chilliwack United Church Memorial Fund, or to the Heritage Village Healing Garden of Life Enrichment Funds.
