Marcia Rose Lichty passed away peacefully on February 17, 2010 at The Waverly Intermediate Care Facility in her 100th year. Marcia was born on December 22, 1910 in Brandon, Manitoba and moved to B.C. after the birth of her son, Robert.

She was predeceased by her first husband Charles Elwin Hallett, her second husband Howard Lichty, her sons Charles Hallett and Robert Hallett, her daughter-in-law Patricia Hallett, her granddaughter Arlene Thomas, and her great-granddaughter Jenna Gaetz (Radon); as well as her sisters Lorraine, Gladys, Edith  and brother Albert.  Marcia lived most of her married life in Vancouver, B.C.  and she worked for B.C. Directories for many years.

Marcia enjoyed entertaining people in her home where everyone was treated royally and company always left with a fond remembrance of their visit.

Marcia and Howard loved the outdoors and enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and vacationing in Mexico.

Marcia and Howard retired and moved to Penticton, B.C. where they resided until Howard’s passing. Marcia moved to Chilliwack in 2004 and resided at the Lynnwood Retirement Residence and due to her declining health spent her later years at The Waverly.

She is survived by daughter-in-law Bobbi Hallett; grandchildren: Diane (Chuck) Gassett, Charles (Mary) Hallett, Linda (Lorne) Lueck, Vicki (Dick) Martens, Sharon (Jim) Gaetz, Robert (Betty) Hallett, Shelley (Cliff) Thiessen, Laura (Gordon) Ray, David (Virginia) Hallett; sister-in-law, Verna Steckly; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends who were very close to her heart.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Waverly for their care, support and compassion during Marcia’s final years. 

A memorial service for Marcia will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack, B.C.

Marcia’s great-grandson, Pastor Derek Archer will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marcia’s name can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C.
