(Mert) Janveaux passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2003 with his family at his side. He was 62 years old. Mert was born June 16, 1941 in Mattawa, Ont.
He is survived by his wife Kareen; children, Kelly (Glen) McAra of Chilliwack, Bill (Karie Ann) of Edmonton, Alta., and David (Leslie) of Oshawa, Ont.; and grandchildren, Shaun, Steven, Hailey, Ashley, Brandon, Connor, Keith, Kurtis, and Kristin. Mert also leaves his brothers, Leo (Anita) of Ontario, and Sid (Lee) of Campbell River; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Fortuna and Blanche Janveaux; and brother Len Janveaux, all of Ontario.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Mar. 22, 2003 at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Father Gary Gordon officiating. Cremation will take place following the service.
Pall bearers will be Bill Janveaux, Glen McAra, Shaun McAra, Steven McAra, Don Wise and Cam Lintock.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society, or a charity of choice.
Mert was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4, and a member of the Anavets Unit 305. He was a longtime Chilliwack painter and owned Mert’s Painting, as well as being an avid golfer and hunter.
