It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Rudolf (Marty) Martens at 71 years of age on Oct. 7, 2008. Marty died peacefully after a lengthy illness.
Marty was predeceased by his parents George and Helene Martens, his infant brother Edward and his infant daughter Teresa. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of over 51 years Vale Irene Martens, his sons; James (Sherry), Bradley (Laurie) and Brian (Judy) and his daughter Susan. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren; Tyler, Christopher, Kyle, Allison, Lucas, Brett and Haley who were his joy.
Marty enjoyed a long 32-year career with the Military where he served in the Airforce that took him and his family around the world. He gladly included family and friends in golf and fishing that were his favorite pastimes. His most treasured memories were of his time spent on the boat with his boys and grandkids. He was also a highly skilled woodworker and his projects were generously given to family and friends who proudly displays his workmanship.
Thank you to the ambulatory care staff, the hospital lab nursing staff, support staff and Dr Gordon Enns of the CGH. As well special thanks to Dr. Gorge DeNegri and Dr. Linda Vickars and their support staff in Vancouver.
A celebration of Marty’s life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Greendale MB Church, 6550 Sumas Prairie Road, Chilliwack at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Greendale MB Church Mission Projects.
