It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, Salvation Army Officer, and friend on May 30, 2009 as she was promoted to glory at Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack at the age of 71 years old. Maritza was born in Aliquile Cochamba, Bolivia on May 24th, 1938.

Survived by daughter Elena (Dennis) Miller and son Ray (Brenda) Suarez, grandchildren Katherine Miller, Danielle Miller, Jacquelyn Miller, Marco Suarez, Emilio Suarez, Raynaldo Suarez, and Carolina Suarez, as well as her brother and sisters Mary (Harry) Daniels, Agar (Tom) Yanulaytis, Helmuth (Brenda) Flores and sister-in-law Sue Flores and their families. She was predeceased by her brother Leon Flores.

Maritza was a devoted Salvation Army officer and spent her lifetime working in the ministry bringing God’s word to people. She loved God, her family, friends, cooking, flowers, sewing and in every appointment she had would train others to learn how to play the timbrel and would begin a timbrel brigade. She also was known in her youth for being first trumpet in her church band, playing the accordion and the guitar.

Funeral Services are being held at the Salvation Army Community Church on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing at 9:30 a.m.

She will be sadly and fondly missed by all that knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chilliwack Hospice Society or the Salvation Army Community Church.
