Lucille WENDEL

March 24, 2007

Lucille Wendel passed away on March 24, 2007 at New Westminster, BC at age 42 years. She was born February 16, 1965 in Prince Albert, SK.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Garnet, son Colten and daughter Jade; mother Suzanne Jobin, Mother in law Geraldine Wendel; brothers and sisters Judy and Lance Nicols; Léo and Clarice Jobin, Ross and Lorea Tylor, Marie and Edwin Slonski, Lorraine Bielka, Dorothy and Eric, Garth and Brenda Wendel and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Ernest Jobin and her brothers Luc and Marcel and her sister Rita.

Lucille enjoyed life. Starting in a small town in Saskatchewan, she was raised with family values that projected love and care. She spent most of her younger years in the city of Saskatoon; school at Even Hardy and working at Sherbrooke Nursing Home, caring for the residents.

She was married in 1986 to Garnet Wendel. They started their family in 1990 with the birth of their son Colten, followed by their daughter Jade in 1991.

Lucille traded the safety of home (Saskatoon) and started following Garnet’s work around, thus allowing her to raise her own children rather than having to work away from home. They then moved to Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan, where she spent her time raising her children and looking after other children in the form of daycare. After her children started school, she joined Kinettes and spent some time working with potato and pork farms in the area.

In 2000, they moved to Chilliwack, BC, where they decided to make a home. She always said it was a lot like Saskatchewan as everyone talks to everyone and everyone is your friend.

She became an avid hockey and synchronized swimming mom, and followed her children in their sports of choice. Her main focus for the children was always academics, and she raised two goal orientated, well rounded, focused students that know what they want for the future.

In 2005, Lucille started working for the City of Chilliwack and was known for her smile and zest for life. Lucille loved her job and her fellow workers and was always willing to go the extra mile.

A Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007 at 2:00 pm from Sardis Community Church 45625 South Sumas Rd. Vedder Rd, Chilliwack BC; Pastor Graeme Isbister officiant.
