With sadness we announce the passing of Lois Barritt at Chilliwack General Hospital on Friday, July 16, 2004. Lois was born in Upper Sumas to pioneer settlers, Mary (Bowman) and Jim McAdam.
She married Jim Barritt on February 6, 1934, moving to the family farm and raising two daughters.
She will be remembered for her love of horses and along with husband, Jim, one of the founding members of the Chilliwack Riding Club, raising American Saddle Breds and Thoroughbreds and lots of good times with family and friends.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Wilson in 1979; Agnes McNelly in 1983 and husband, Jim, in 1986.
Lois is survived by daughters, Joan (Ken) Alendal of Chilliwack; Helen Light and Gary of New Westminster; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Pat) McCutcheon; grandchildren: Jim (Anne) Alendal of Chilliwack; Kelly (Christine) Alendal of N. Vancouver; Greg (Lorraine) Light of Surrey: Deana (David) Portier of France; great-grandchildren: Jarritt and Kayleigh Alendal; Jarad, Chelsea and Selena Light; Jess and Chelan Portier.
There will be a “Gathering at the Farm” on Thursday, July 22, 2004 between 2-5 p.m. for family and friends.
Should family and friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
