Lloyd Vernie Erickson passed away peacefully at the Waverly Seniors Village in Chilliwack. He leaves behind his wife Margaret of 63 years and his children, Joyce/Doug, Gordon/Audrey, Tracy/widow of Gary, Sheryl/Ed, Marilyn/Khamis and Melo’Dee/Brian, 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents, Morris and Louise Erickson, all 8 of his siblings, Henry, Fritz, Victor, Jennie, Clara, Arnold, Waiter and Oscar. His son Gary Lloyd died on December 6,1997.

Lloyd was born in Mallaig, Alberta, the youngest son of Morris and Louise Erickson, homesteaders from Norway. He left Alberta and moved his family to Quesnel in 1956 where he worked falling timber and at the Brown Miller Saw Mill. In 1967, the family moved to Chilliwack and then to Yarrow where Lloyd worked for the School Board as a custodian until he retired in 1988. Lloyd and Margaret started the Green Thumb vegetable stand on their property along Number 3 Road where they sold their produce for over twenty-five years. In 1992, they sold the acreage and moved into Chilliwack until they took up residence at the Waverly in 2005.

A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012, Woodlawn Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack, BC at 2pm. Everyone is welcome to share a time of fellowship and remembrance of Lloyd.
