June 22, 1933 - September 22, 2022
Born in Herfolge, Denmark, a small village to the south of Copenhagen. Lisa had a restless spirit so quickly left behind the farming life of her parents.
She worked as a governess in Germany for a spell before emigrating to Canada. In Toronto, she would marry and bear her first son, Ron. The family moved to Thunder Bay where her second son, Andrew, was born.
They moved again to Surrey where she started a part-time job with Sears in the candy department. In that same time her marriage ended. Seeking a new life, Lisa bought a small house in Sardis where she raised her two sons and worked for the newly opened Sears, starting in the candy department and then moved onto selling sewing machines and vacuum cleaners and then large appliance. There, she would make many friends, including her coworkers, customers and others in the community.
Before long, her sons grew and left the nest. Lisa seized her newfound freedom to explore her long latent interest in exploring the world. She racked up an amazing list of over 70 countries, ranging from Chile to Russia to China to Turkey to the Amazon.
Whenever at home, she cultivated her love of dancing and made more friends. While never forgetting her Dansk heritage, her haven would always be Chilliwack where she had lived longest and made the deepest connections.
She is succeeded by her two sons, Ron and Andrew, and two grandchildren, Isaac and Sara.
A small gathering will be held in her memory at the common room near the NW corner of the Ascott Estates, 7455 Huron Street, Chilliwack.
