Lily Beatrice SHEWCHUK

May 15, 2007

It is with deep regret that the family of Lily Beatrice Shewchuk shares the news of her passing on May 15, 2007 at Chilliwack General Hospital.

Lily is lovingly remembered by her daughter Patricia Reimer; granddaughters Sheri Heal and Debra Cross; great-granddaught–ers Adrian Cross and Alana Cross; relatives and friends.

The youngest of six children, Lily was born August 13, 1920 in Vancouver. The tall beautiful young woman soon caught the eye of the handsome and newly-enlisted Nick Shewchuk.

After their wedding in 1941 the couple were stationed in Ontario, then Victoria before settling in Vancouver where their daughter Patricia was born and raised.

Weekends were often spent on the water at Pender Harbour, or gold panning up the Fraser Canyon. Lil enjoyed their time with dear friends and family at Birch Bay, then Black Mountain Ranch.

After Nick’s retirement they moved to Whiterock and when the cool weather came each year they headed south to Palm Springs in their motorhome.

In the early 80’s they made their way out to Chilliwack to be closer to their daughter and her family.

Nick and Lil lived at Ascot Estates until after his death in 2000, when Lil moved to The Waverly.

“Nana” was a devoted wife and mother, and doting grandmother and personified the term “great-grandmother”.

She saw more then her fair share of band concerts, and never missed a school play or dance recital. She was often seen out watching Sheri compete at horse events, visiting Debra at the mall, and having coffee with the Ladies of Ascot Estates.

No service as per her request. Thanks to the caring staff of the ECU.
