April 10, 1932 - May 14, 2019
Lilly Miriam Hill, 87, passed away peacefully after a brief stay at Chilliwack General Hospital. Born Lilly Miriam Nelitz on April 10, 1932 to Marie and Carl Nelitz in Wanham, Alberta, she moved at a young age to Salmon Arm where she met and married Matt Hill. Together they raised two children, Debbie and Gordon. The family moved to various B.C Forest Service engineering road building camps to follow Matt's employment and Lil took charge of educating the children and pursuing various hobbies such as stamp and coin collecting. She was an accomplished sewer and after the family moved to Chilliwack in 1966, she worked at Auld Phillips. Later on, her employment expanded to include tax preparation, working at Marell Boutique and River View Farms. Lil had a fondness for teaching and for a period of time volunteered at a local prison to teach inmates how to read. She was always available to babysit her grandchildren and great grandchildren and they all loved their Grammy. Her adventures included travel to the Maritimes and an excursion to Europe.
Lilly was predeceased by husband Matt in 2006. She is survived by children Debbie (Dwayne) Clegg, Gordon (Margaret) Hill, grandchildren Lisa, Keith, Matt, Dave, and Jessica and great grandchildren Brookelyn, Carson, Zoe, London and Beth.
No service by request, a family and close friend gathering will be held in July 2019.
