Leslie (Les) Wilfred Hay passed away from a brief illness on April 9, 2025, at Chilliwack General Hospital at the wonderful age of 93. (b1931-08-07)
Les was a kind, generous & gracious man who loved his family immensely, and his family loved & adored him. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word and well-liked by everyone, whether it be a new acquaintance or a long-time friend.
He spent 44 years in the newspaper industry, first as a Pressman and later as Manager of the Press Department (The Chilliwack Progress, Hacker Press/ The Abbotsford News). Les was an active member of the Hole in the Wall, the Kinsmen Club and the Aitchelitz Hall where he developed many lifelong friendships.
Les is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Joan Marie Hay, daughter, Gail Smit (Casey), son, Alan Hay (Sue), extended sons, Glen Anderson (Heidi) & Paul Chin (Diane) and 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
His family & friends are beyond grateful to have had him in their lives as long as they did. How do you sum up a life of an extraordinary man?... "Unforgettable in every way". Leslie Wilfred Hay (Les, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle) you will be so missed! A celebration of life to be held at a later date.
