Lena Skibinsky passed away November 18th, 2009 at the age of 90 years in Surrey, British Columbia. She was born on October 20th, 1919, to Todor Litowsky and Dora Matichuk in the Burgis rural district, near Canora, Saskatchewan.

Lena had one brother Bill Litowsky, and three sisters, Mary Fostey, Kay Lozinski, and Ann Dorosh all of whom are deceased.

On June 8th 1941, Lena married Harry Skibinsky and they farmed in the Donwell Canora district. Lena and Harry had two children, a daughter, Dolores, and a son Lawrence, who predeceased them on March 6th 1984. Lena also raised a step-daughter, Lillian Sawka, who predeceased her in 2008.

In October 1973, Harry retired from farming and the family moved to Chilliwack to be with their son Lawrence, and his children. Harry passed away on April 13th 1996. Lena continued to live in Chilliwack until 2007 when she sold the home and moved to Fleetwood Villa in Surrey, BC, where she resided until her death. Lena enjoyed living in Fleetwood Villa where she had many good friends and enjoyed all of the many activities the Villa offered, cards and bingo being her favourite past times.

Lena leaves to mourn her daughter, Delores Gondziola and her son-in-law Jim, of North Battleford, Saskatchewan and her daughter-in-law Stella Skibinsky, of Chilliwack, BC. Lena also leaves to mourn the following grandchildren, Lauren Skibinsky of Edmonton, Alberta, Sarah Skibinsky of Surrey, BC, Rose Skibinsky of Chilliwack, BC, James Gondziola (Shelley) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Susan Mitchell (Brent) of Battleford, Saskatchewan, Leah Ann Boutin (Rodney) of Lloydminster, Alberta, Brian Sawka (Rosemary) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Leonard Sawka (Denise) of Red Deer, Alberta and Wayne Sawka (Sharon) of Canora, Saskatchewan, as well as 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Two grandsons, Clifford Sawka and Rick Sawka, predeceased her death.

A Funeral Service for the Late Lena Skibinsky was held on November 26th 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Interment took place in the city of cemetery of Chilliwack, BC.
