Our dear wife and mother, Lena Hooge, went to be with Jesus on October 22, 2002. She was born in Winkler, Man. on April 22, 1928 and, at the age of 15, moved to the Chilliwack area.
Lena and John were married in Greendale in 1946, and were blessed with six children. They retired in 1983 and spent many happy years travelling, enjoying life and serving the Lord in short-term missions.
She is survived by her husband, John; four daughters, and two sons, Judi Reinhardt (Detlev) of Vernon, Don Hooge (Joan) of Chilliwack, Karen Janzen (Gary) of Langley, Glenda McConnaughey (Scott) of California, Jennine Czeck (Steve) of Chilliwack, and James Hooge (Christine) of Stoney Plain, Alta.; and grandchildren, Jerry Reinhardt (Melanie), and Dan Reinhardt (Rebecca); Kevin Hooge (Jen), Trisha and Jeff Hooge; Matthew, Marcus and Jamie Janzen; Christine, Jonathon, Mary, Rachel, Elizabeth and Rebecca McConnaughey; Rachelle, Joel and Erin Czeck; and Kendall and Katie Hooge; great-grandchildren, Robbie and Becky McGloin, Benjamin Reinhardt, and Allaryce Reinhardt; two sisters, Martha Wiebe (John), and Elizabeth Esau (Peter); and two brothers, Peter Dueck (Rita), and John Dueck (Sara).
Lena is predeceased by her mother and father, Jacob and Elizabeth Dueck; and two brothers, Jake and Bill Dueck.
A Celebration of Lena’s Life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 in Greendale MB Church, 6550 Sumas Prairie Rd., Chilliwack.
