This guy! What a character! Canucks fan, BC Lions fan, Whitecaps fan, Chilliwack Chiefs Fan - win or lose he was always the #1 fan of his teams, and that included his family team. His sister Laureen Duerksen (John MacPherson), nephew Andrew Duerksen, niece Christina Duerksen (Jacqueline Hughes, Ryker Green, Hudson Duerksen-Hughes), and cousins Keith (Kristi) Merson, Brian (Abbie, Al and Kaitlin) Merson now mourns his loss. Larry left us March 18th to join his ancestral family team. Parents Howard and Eleanor Isaac, maternal and paternal Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles. No more wheelchair, no more hearing aids, no more glasses, no more limitations - he is free, he is whole, he is with God. Just shy of his 63rd birthday he accomplished so much more with his life than medical science gave him credit for all those years ago. He played multiple sports with Chilliwack Special Olympics - taking the BC floor hockey team to the Nationals. Soccer, bowling, floor hockey, swimming, weightlifting - he did it all, he won the medals and the trophies and smiled all the way through. He loved music and would volunteer to "DJ" at any event at any time! Larry attended Sunshine Drive School from Kindergarten to grade 12, graduating to the adult day Program with the now Chilliwack Society for Community Living (CSCL) working hard in the woodshop helping out all the guys. He "retired" at 56 not wanting to miss a minute of the activities at his care home Cascade Lodge. To say we will miss him is an understatement, but we are thankful for the wonderful care he has received at Cascade Lodge these past 10 years and are thankful he isn't suffering. A private family graveside service will be held at Chilliwack Cemetery later this summer. Until we meet again... rock on!
