Laverne ROBERTS

February 2, 2006

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother at Dufferin Place in Nanaimo, B.C. A resident of Chilliwack since 1965 and a short time in Abbotsford, she was active in her community. She will be remembered as the first woman elected to Chilliwack City Council in 1976, serving three terms and as a manager for the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce and Tourism office until her stroke in 1989. In 1992, she moved to Nanaimo to be with her daughter’s family. She was a wonderful mother and a truly devoted grandmother.

She will be missed by her daughter Cheryl Freeman (Tony) of Nanaimo; her sons, Dr. Stephen Roberts (Susan) of Vancouver, and David Roberts (Shelley) of Chilliwack; her cherished granddaughters of whom she was so proud, Danielle Jorgensen (Tim) of Delta and Amanda Oakes of Nanaimo; and her granddogs, Luke and Bianca. She is also survived by her sister Thelma Mosier of New Westminster.

she was predeceased by her brother Ken Anderson last year and by her mother Rachel Uswell, two years ago.

At her request, there will be no service, only cremation.

We will never forget the struggles you overcame, the sacrifices you made for your family, and the goals you successfully achieved.

In memory, bouquets of colour, soared aloft. Any donations in her memory, please give to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
