L. G. (Lyle) ORTON

January 30, 2005

June 6, 1940 - January 30, 2005

L. G. (Lyle) Orton left us unexpectedly after several years of medical problems.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years Helen; son Darrell, daughters Michele and Robyn (Mitch); grandchildren Shanine, Douglas, Ryan, Devan, Chelsea and Colton; sisters Lorraine, Leila (John) and brothers Steve and Bill (Deb), mother-in-law Margaret, sister-in-law Diane, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother Leona (1976), father Lloyd (1994), step-mother Ruth (2004) and his favourite Aunt Beth and Uncle Bill.

Lyle was born June 6, 1940 in Winnipeg, Man. and spent his early years with his family in Alberta before moving to BC in 1956. After graduating from high school, Lyle began working at Seaspan International, formerly Vancouver Tugs. This became his lifelong career, as he loved his time on the water whether on the tugs or the oil barges.

Lyle loved to spend time with his family camping and fishing. He and Helen volunteered countless hours for the Canadian Diabetes Association and Mothers Against Drunk Driving Canada/Upper Fraser Valley Chapter.

By Lyle’s request, there will be no service. There will be a private family celebration of his life. Flowers are gratefully declined.

Donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, MADD Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Lyle.
