Klaas KORT

Klaas Kort, late of Norman Manor, Chilliwack and formerly of McSween Road, passed away on January 23, 2005 at the Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 92 years. He was born September 19, 1912 in Zeerijp, Gronigen, The Netherlands and lived in the area for 17 years.

Klaas immigrated to Canada with his family in 1949 to Beeton, Ontario. In 1957 he bought his own farm in Shanty Bay, Ontario and was there until 1987. On his retirement they came to Chilliwack. He loved gardening, reading and especially fishing in the Fraser River. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Klaas is survived by son Albert (Henny) of Barrie, Ont., daughter Margaret (Vic) Triemstra of Chilliwack, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 sisters in Holland.

He was predeceased by his wife of almost 63 years in 2000, one daughter in 1944, one daughter-in-law in 1972 and 6 brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 28, 2005 at 11 am at the First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Carel Geleynse officiating. Interment at the Chilliwack Cemeteries.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CRWRC World Relief Fund or a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Norman Manor and Home care, the staff at the Chilliwack General Hospital and Dr. Quentin Smith for all the wonderful care given to dad.
