Kevin John Barkman, age 48, of Winnipeg (formerly of Chilliwack, B.C.) passed away following a short battle with cancer.

He is survived by two daughters, Kaitlyn and Johanna and former spouse, Heather, his parents, Ken and Karen Barkman, two sisters, Kristen (James) Moan and Kimberly Chell, three nieces and four nephews. He was predeceased by grandparents John and Sarah Barkman and Jacob W and Estella Harder, and one nephew.

Kevin's passions in life included his lifelong spiritual quest, Kung Fu, chess, philosophical discussions, debating issues, music, and all of J.R.R. Tolkien's and C.S. Lewis's writings. His serious goal in life was to help others less fortunate than he was. He was unfailing in his loyalty to his family.

A memorial service is planned for Sunday, January 27 at the St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut St in Wpg at 2 pm Should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Ruth and Naomi Mission, 46130 Margaret Ave, Chilliwack, B.C. V2P 2G5.

The family was touched by the compassionate care of the Palliative Care teams who worked so hard to make the last days of his Earth Journey as comfortable as possible.
