“Papa”
It is with much love and sadness that we say goodbye to a dear husband, father and Papa who passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born November 21, 1946 in Summerside, PEI he was the eldest son of the late Lloyd & Edith Bowness. Ken will be forever loved and cherished by his beloved wife Donna; son Rick (Camille), daughter Vickie (Ron) daughter Katrina (Tom), and grandchildren Jordan, Kodie, Shayna & Lauryn.
He will be sadly missed by his siblings: Liz (John) Walker, Eleanor (Al) Pasanen, Dee (Sue) Bowness, Kathy (Dan) Higgins, extended family members and friends.
Ken had a long distinguished career in the Armed Forces (Air). After retirement he continued a second career working in the great outdoors as a Groundskeeper at various golf courses in the Fraser Valley.
Among the many things he enjoyed were camping with family, hiking, boating on Harrison Lake and skiing. He especially enjoyed going on the ATV and exploring the many trails in the surrounding areas.
His family was very important to him, especially his grandchildren. He always put others before himself, lending a helping hand when needed. He was a gentle, caring and considerate man who will be remembered by friends and colleagues for his quiet demeanor. Ken touched many hearts and left us with many memories.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday September 12, 2009 at 10am at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Avenue, Chilliwack. Reception to follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
