Kenneth Freeman McLACHLAN

Kenneth Freeman McLachlan, born April 16, 1919 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2008 with his family by his side.

Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years: Dorothy (nee Fish); their children: Donald (Carol), Bruce (Ann) and John (Beverley); and son-in-law Russell Armstrong. He will be sadly missed and always loved by his grandchildren: Kathy, Barbara, Paul, Bruce Jr., Lisa, Wendy and Tracy; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken was predeceased by three brothers, one sister and most recently, his daughter, Gloria “Jean” Armstrong on October 28, 2008.

A veteran of WWII, Ken served in the Armed Forces, traveling all over the word with the Engineer Corps until his retirement in 1971. He proudly achieved the rank of Warrant Officer.

Ken was devoted to his family, his country and his church. He was a familiar figure on the Salvation Army Kettles for many years. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 7 pm from Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave. Chilliwack, BC.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, December 29, 2008 in the Chapel of Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home; Major Angus Haggarty officiant. Interment will follow at Chilliwack Cemetery on Little Mountain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
