It is with great sorrow that we have to announce the passing of Kay Johann Witthinrich at Chilliwack General Hospital. With his soul mate Marian Morrison, loving daughter, Karin Oesch, and nephew Peter Heller by his side.

He was predeceased by his parents Ernst and Kaethe Witthinrich; his twin sister, Frauke (Fran) Heller; sister, Kathe Witthinrich and his step-son Raymond Morrison.

He is survived and sadly missed by his soulmate Marian, sister Jutta Heuberger, daughter Karin (Garry), step-sons Lawrence (Michelle), Rodney(Kim) and Byron(Wendy) Grandchildren Justin (Jen), Kyle and Brandon Oesch, Travis, Terry, Clifford(Shelisa), Colton,Bailey,Deandra(Joe), Karlie( Kyle), Abbey and Bryce Morrison, great-grandchildren: Shayla, Keygian, Owyn, Silas, Vadik. Special niece Doris Heller(Dave) and many numerous nephews and nieces. Also, his beloved cat Taz.

Kay was born in Kiel, Germany. He started his carpentry apprenticeship in Germany. In 1957 at the age of 20, Kay and his twin sister Fran immigrated to Canada to help their family start a new life.

The two worked hard to make enough money for first their father, then mother and two sisters to join them. They also helped their parents establish Roddy’s Restaurant.

Kay had worked various jobs, hop yards, Bowman Mill then later with Rudolph Construction until retirement.

Kay married in 1964 and had their only child Karin in 1965. They lived in Merrit for a short time, then moved to Chilliwack.

Kay was a member of the Chilliwack German Canadian Club for 29 yrs. There he met and made numerous friends. Things he enjoyed to do was spending time with family and friends, bowling, horseshoes, dancing, travelling and Friday nights at the club.

Kay met Marian in 1985. The two enjoyed their Reno bus trips, Hawaii, Ontario, Mexico trips, camping and spontaneous adventures with Guenter’s bus.

Kay will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his smile. We will love and miss him forever and always. Till we meet again.

The family would like to thank, Dr. Hirst, (ambulance attendants, emergency and 3rd floor nursing staff). His special friends that visited both at the house and hospital during his illness. Also, all that have sent flowers, cards, visited and phone calls.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Chilliwack German Canadian Club at 45910 Alexander Ave, Chilliwack, B.C. on September 15, 2012. at 1:00 - 4:00 pm.
