It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Katie Sudermann, who went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on August 24, 2011. She passed away at Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack, BC.

Katie was born on March 16, 1928 in the Ukraine, Russia. Katie met Jake Sudermann in Winnipeg and they were married in 1952. Katie loved to be hospitable to everyone. She was a very industrious person and a great and loyal friend to everyone. She loved to garden, cook, bake and arrange flowers. Katie was an active volunteer, both in her church, with the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), and in her community.

Katie is survived by her loving husband, Jake; son, Henry (Eleanor) Sudermann; daughter, Elenore (John) Hanson; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-godchildren.

A Celebration of Katie’s Life will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Eden Mennonite Church, 46551 Chilliwack Central Rd., Chilliwack, BC

The Sudermann family thanks everyone who visited Katie, the exceptional staff and volunteers at Cascade Hospice, and Dr. Bakker and his staff for their excellent care of Katie.
