PHILLIPS, Kathleen

April 18, 1943 - October 23, 2016

Kathy Phillips passed away on Sunday, October 23rd, 2016 peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She leaves to mourn her passing her brothers Jack (Edith) of Red Deer, Alberta, Merrie (Dennis) of Richmound, Sask and Doug (Barb) of Lethbridge, Alberta, her children, Debbie, Darryl (Wendy) of Chilliwack, and Bill (Jenny) of Qualicum Beach, and grandchildren, Ashley (Erik), Haley, Adam, Stephanie (Niko) Michael, Emma & Sarah (Luc) and great grandson Jaxx. She was predeceased by her mother Dorothy, father William, brother, Allen, former husband Galen Phillips and her close friend Sue Lock. They moved frequently in the early years of their marriage but moved to Chilliwack in 1973 and decided this would become home. Kathy initially worked at hairdressing in Vedder Crossing for a few years.

She went back to school at Fraser Valley College taking an office skills course. She was hired on with the Bank of BC and she stayed with them (transitioning to HSBC) in both Chilliwack and Abbotsford until her retirement. She had great memories and made lifelong friends while working at the bank. Upon her retirement from the banking industry, she worked part-time at Heritage Village and became a Mary Kay representative making many more great friends along the way. She retired once again but found she needed something to do. She decided that taking up volunteering with the Hospital Auxiliary was a way to keep active and give back to her community which she enjoyed very much. Retirement offered her the opportunity to paint, Photograph and to go back to school through Elder College and take courses that interested her. Life -long learning and spending time with family and friends gave her great joy. Jazz festivals, dancing, camping and enjoying everything that came along. She made friends everywhere she went and it became so evident when she became sick and everyone came to visit, their dedication and friendship warmed her heart and ours. Thank you to her family physician, Dr.Nagdee, the 4th floor south team at Chilliwack General and the wonderful staff at The Bradley Centre who helped to make her as comfortable as possible in her final days. Mom, we will miss your loving, caring heart, we love you. Funeral Services to be held at Henderson's Funeral Home
