Kathleen LUDLAM

March 23, 2007

(May 15, 1924 - March 23, 2007)

Kathleen passed away peacefully in Golden, BC at the age of 82.

She is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter Jeanette (Carle) LaFleur, grandson’s Jean Paul (Adrienne) and Mich (Brandi), great grand daughter Annika and nephew Paul Rixon (Sue & Family) in England. She is also survived by her daughter’s father Eric Ludlam.

She was predeceased by her father Alfred Diggle, son Paul in 1957, her mother & step-father Theresa and John Moore, her sisters Vera and Betty (England).

She began her nursing in England and worked at Chilliwack Hospital after arriving in Canada in 1950. In 1951 she married Eric Ludlam also from England. Although her career ended to raise a family, her care and compassion for the sick continued.

She taught Majorettes and enjoyed making the costumes and driving the children to parades and competitions. She was a wonderful seamstress and got a chance to pass on her skills to her students at St. Mary’s School.

She sold Regal to raise funds for a little boy in Peru. She was a devoted member of the CWL for 50 years and was an active member of both St. Mary’s and Christ Lutheran churches. Her life was her faith, family and friends.

Thank you to BC Ambulance Service for flying mom to Golden which allowed her to be surrounded by family during her final days.

She will be remembered for her contagious smile, her thought that “every day” was good enough for her “Sunday Best” and especially for her love of children.

Prayers for Kathleen will be held Friday March 30, 2007 at approximately 7:30 pm and a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am Saturday March 31, 2007 at St. Mary’s Church. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Celebrant Father Paul Bui. There will be a Tea to Follow in St. Mary’s Hall.

It was Kathleen’s request that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the BC Children’s Hospital, in memory of her son Paul Ludlam.
