Kathleen Bernice Kay BAKER

Kathleen Bernice Kay Baker passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 27, 2004 in Chilliwack at the age of 90 years.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, Mar. 13, 2004 from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Chilliwack with Father Gary Gordon the Celebrant.

Kathleen was born on March 15, 1913 in Blaine Lake, Sask. to parents Joseph and Josephine Olzewski. She had lived in the Chilliwack area for over 55 years.

She married Allen Baker on August 20, 1946 in Vancouver.

Kathleen worked for many years as a Teacher. She received her Degree in Teaching from UBC and was writing a thesis for her Master’s Degree.

During WWII, there was a shortage of Nurses in Prince George and because of this Kathleen took the training to become a Red Cross Nurse.

She volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary, the Hospital Service League, and the Professional Business Women’s Club.

She enjoyed curling, bowling, gardening and playing Bridge.

Kathleen is survived by her twin sons Robert Allen Baker and his wife Iris, and Douglas Lloyd Baker and his wife Lori, as well as grandchildren Jasmin, Anna, Kathryn and Shawn.

She was predeceased by her husband George Allen Baker.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
