BERGEN; Katherine (Olfert)

August 26, 1917 - April 26, 2016

It is with sad hearts that we say good bye to our mom Katherine (Olfert) Bergen who went home to be with her Saviour on April 26, 2016. Mom was born on August 26, 1917 twelve miles from Wymark, Saskatchewan. She was the seventh child in a family of eleven.

Katherine met Thomas Bergen in 1937 and were married on November 5, 1938 and established their own home in Saskatchewan. In 1940 they moved east to Ontario. In 1957 the decision was made to move to BC. Mom and Dad had twelve children and raised eleven to adulthood. Mom had many talents. She was a great cook, could grow beautiful gardens, a great seamstress, and crocheting and quilting were her passion too. And when she wasn't busy with hand work she could be found with book in hand reading. Left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Ruth Attrill and Kathy Warkentin (Peter), her sons: Arnold Bergen (Hazel), Wally Bergen (Carol), Sam Bergen (Pam), Murray Bergen and Ted Bergen, 27 grandchildren 48 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed but we are comforted in the knowledge that she now is rejoicing in heaven with her Saviour. Katherine's Celebration of "A Life Well Lived" will be held on Wednesday, May 4th at 12:30pm

at Central Community Church. Many thanks to the staff in the Rosedale neighborhood at Heritage Village for taking such good care of mom, and special thanks to Dr. S. A. Bartel for your many years of caring for her.

If you would like, in lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to Stillwood Camp and Conference Centre or to Charis Camp and Conference Centre.
