Karola Wieking passed away peacefully on Monday, November 12th at Chilliwack at the age of 81 years. She was born in Nordhorn, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1954. Originally settling in Ottawa before coming to Chilliwack in 1970. Karola lived in Chilliwack for the remainder of her life. She was a supervisor at Fraser Vale until the time it closed its doors. She loved to go to her campsite in Washington State and spent time with friends at her favorite casinos. Karola is lovingly remembered by her daughter Angelika Mertz and son Jeff Wieking (Lynda); grandchildren Chad, Karlie and Michelle Mertz and Eric and Adam Wieking. She was sadly predeceased by her husband Henry Wieking and her parents Karl and Adelaide Gunk. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Karola Wieking’s name to the Cascade Hospice Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
