Karen Elain HIGGS

It is with great sadness that the we announce that Karen Elaine Higgs passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Chilliwack General Hospital at age 49. She was born on June 16, 1959 in London, England.

Karen is survived by her husband of 25 years of marriage, Barry; her son James, her daughters, Natalie (Jonathan) and Alanna and her parents, Noel and Elaine Webb of Canterbury, England.

Karen and Barry were married in Kent, England in 1982. James and Natalie were born in England shortly before immigrating to Canada in 1989. The family settled in Chilliwack where Alanna was born.

Her interests included travelling at home and abroad, cross-stitching, biking, gardening, cooking, and meeting and entertaining friends. She would love to participate, organize, and lead Bible studies. Karen had a passion for discipling and inspiring youth through mentoring and fellowship. After her first battle with cancer, Karen dedicated time mentoring and befriending other cancer patients. Leading up to her death, she was becoming more involved with Opportunity International.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to all those who cared for Karen in her difficult times. Special thanks to Dr. Quentin Smith, Dr. Chuck Boldt, Dr. Norman Causton, Dr. Neil Hilliard, Dr. Paris Ingledew, and the nurses and staff of Chilliwack General Hospital.

Karen was one of the most loving and caring individuals that anyone would have had the privilege of knowing. Her heart was focused outwardly, spreading the love of Jesus to others even in her last days.

We celebrate knowing that she is one with Jesus now, free of pain and suffering. We all miss you greatly Karen/Mom, and we look forward to our joyous reunion one day with you again in Heaven.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Chilliwack Baptist Church, 46336 First Ave, Chilliwack, BC.
