June 20, 1924 - November 8, 2018
Joyce Anna Murray passed away Thursday, November 8th at Heritage Village, Chilliwack BC after a long struggle with dementia. She was born in Lethbridge, Alberta June 20, 1924 to Theodore and Nellie Christianson. Joyce is survived by her children Sue Taitinger (Darrell Mitchell) of Delta BC, Ryan Taitinger (Elaine Hennig) of Fort Murray AB, Kelly Taitinger of Vancouver BC, and Mark Taitinger (Corrine King) of Langford BC. She was predeceased by her parents Theodore and Nellie Christianson, first husband Don Taitinger (1966), second husband Ken Murray (2015), sister Elaine Pegler, and brother Clemens Christianson.
Joyce graduated from the Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing, Calgary Alberta (Class of 1946) and enjoyed a long career spent mostly in Claresholm Alberta as an RN in various capacities, retiring in 1986. As an active person, she enjoyed many activities including golf, swimming, curling, tennis and walking, but her passion was travelling, whether it was road trips thru the backroads of Alberta or British Columbia, or longer visits to Australia, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Honolulu and Alaska.
Mom relocated to Cultus Lake BC (2000) to be closer to family and enjoyed many years in her home gardening with Ken, swimming (daily) and doing crosswords. She spent the last four years at Heritage Village, Chilliwack BC.
The family would like to thank the staff of Aquadel for the kindness and compassion you showed to Joyce, we loved her very much.
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free
Miss me a little but not too long
Miss me but let me go
No service as per her wishes and cremation has taken place.
