BOISVERT; Joseph Raymond

July 26, 1929 - November 15, 2016

Joseph Raymond Boisvert passed away peacefully at Cascade Lodge in Chilliwack, BC on November 15th, 2016. Ray was predeceased by his wife Louise (nee Johnson) and is survived by his sister Julie, partner Jackie, daughter Kathy, son Dave & wife Kim, grandchildren Erin, Shannon, Cory & Rob and great grandchildren Ashur & Ayda. Ray was born on a farm in Legal, Alberta, one of 11 children of William & Ida Boisvert (nee Bachand). He had a 26 year career as an RCMP officer beginning in Montreal in January 1949, then to Hope, 100 Mile, Victoria, Salmo, Prince Rupert, Surrey & finally Staff Sergeant in Coquitlam, BC. He retired from the force in March 1974 and went on to a second career as Provincial Court Administrator in Chilliwack until July 1984 and Justice of the Peace until 1988. His career brought Ray and his family through many wonderful small communities in BC where they were actively involved in community services, sports and outdoor activities. In retirement Ray had numerous hobbies and interests: a keen fly fisherman, expert photographer and gardener, outdoorsman and always up for a competitive game of golf. His grandchildren held a special spot in his heart with many secret hideaways on his Veddar River to explore. He was a friend to all 4-legged animals who sought him out for the treats he carried on his walks along the riverbanks. Ray will be greatly missed by his family and as he requested we will celebrate his life on Mt. Cheam in the spring. A heartfelt THANK YOU to the staff at Cascade Lodge for their expertise & compassion over the last five years. We always knew he was in caring hands.
