John Holcik

February 10, 1936 - May 3, 2019
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. John passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 3rd at Valleyhaven Guest Home in Chilliwack, BC.
Born on February 10, 1936 John grew up with his brother Martin on a Chilliwack dairy farm started by his parents John and Helen Holcik in the 1930's. Once he completed Grade 13 (1st year university) at Chilliwack Sr. High he went to work for CN Railway in Spences Bridge. While living there he met his loving wife Fay (Goheen) and married on May 1st, 1959. They had four children before moving back to Chilliwack in 1965, and began working as dairy farmers until his retirement in 1996.
Although retired he continued to help his son Brent with field work during the harvesting months. He continued with his passion of restoring and collecting antique tractors (preferably McCormicks) and had quite a collection.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Fay and his children, Tim Holcik, Brent (Carla) Holcik, Craig (Heather) Holcik, and daughter Diana (Rob) Evans. John will also be fondly remembered by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Our family thank the staff and caregivers at Valleyhaven for the care and kindness. We would also like to thank two of his long-time friends, Bert Norrish and Johnny Wigham for their continued visits until the time of his passing.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 25th at 1 pm at the Chilliwack Opportunity Society located at 10135 Williams Road, Chilliwack, BC. No flowers by request. Memorial donations if desired in memory of John may be made to the Chilliwack Opportunity Society, 10135 Williams Road, Chilliwack, BC V2P 5H3.
