John Giesbrecht passed away peacefully on January 13, 2020 at Cascades Residential Care facility. He was 94 years old. John was born October 9, 1925; at Hacienda de San Juan, Irapuato, Mexico; the youngest of 10 children. The family immigrated to Canada in 1928, and settled in the village of Yarrow. John grew up on the family farm in Yarrow. In 1950 he married Beatrice Mrak (Bea). They had four children; Randy, Wayne, Wendy & Barry. He founded Pioneer Building Supplies in 1964, which is still a family business in Chilliwack. John loved fishing and hunting in his earlier years; but his passion was his Quarter Horse Farm on Vedder Mountain Road; J-Bar Ranch.
John is survived by his wife Bea; children Randy (Donna), Wayne (Cathy), Wendy, and Barry ( Shirley); his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A family graveside committal service was held at Chilliwack Cemetery. A Memorial Service for John will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, February 21 at Chilliwack Alliance Church, 8700 Young Road, Chilliwack.
