“Ted”

June 3, 1930 - Sept. 2, 2010

Ted passed away in Chilliwack, B.C. on Sept. 2, 2010 with family by his side.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Joyce, six sons and a daughter: Derek (Susan) of Calgary, Darrell of California, U.S.A., Geoffrey of Chilliwack, Todd (Keiko) of Tokyo, Japan, Robert of Calgary, Scott (Sylvie) of Calgary and Marilyn of Chilliwack. Also survived by his sister Phyllis Bowers of Halifax, N.S. and seven grandchildren: Troy, Tim, Aubrey, Samantha, Stephen, Simon, and Tyler.

Predeceased by his parents Austin John and Phyllis Baker of Shelburne N.S., sister Linda Kearley and granddaughter Kristen.

Born and raised in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, he enlisted with the R.C.A.F. (Military Police) in 1950. He was assigned to Special Investigation Detachment for most of his military career, before retiring in 1980. He served in Metz France, Lahr Germany, Halifax, Moncton, Gagetown, N.D.H.Q. - Ottawa, Moose Jaw, Chilliwack and Cyprus.

Following retirement from the armed forces he worked for B.C. Liquor Distribution Branch as a security officer for 10 years.

A celebration of life will be held in Chilliwack in November at a time and location yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Diabetic Association or Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated. Condolences may be sent to johnyukibaker@hotmail.com. Special thanks to Dr. K.
