John Edward Amundsen passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 3, 2010 after a 3 month battle with lung cancer at age 72.

John was born on March 28, 1937 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. He moved to BC with his parents in 1954 and to Agassiz with his own family in 1976 where he started his own electrical contracting business, Kent Electric Ltd. He enjoyed playing darts, golfing, motorcycle riding, and was an outstanding trap shooter.

John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce, son Larry (Diana) and daughter Karen (Richard) Hatt, as well as grandchildren, Amy (Andrew) Wouda, Jeremy and Ryan Hatt and Jasmine Paul-Louis.

John was predeceased by his father, Frank in 1972, his mother, Kathleen in 1998 and his granddaughter, Kristy Hatt in 2004.

A memorial service will be held at the Agassiz United Church on Friday January 22 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kristy Hatt Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Agassiz Prospera Credit Union or the BC Cancer Society.
