July 13, 1933 - April 15, 2013

Born in Glasgow, Scotland to John and Barbara (Ferguson) Moore. Born into the family of God in 1969 at The Salvation Army Vancouver Harbour Light.

Predeceased by his parents, and brother Denis Neil Moore.

John is survived by his much-loved wife, Diane, and his brother Bill (Liz). Brothers and sisters-in-law Dave (Janice), Margaret, Donna (Bob), numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

The majority of John’s life was as a Salvation Army Officer, where, as he put it in recent days when asked “he helped people who couldn’t help themselves.” He loved the Lord, all creatures (but mostly Bonnie, our cockapoo), fairness, encouraging others, golf, soccer, and any kindness done for him. Even though very ill, his sense of humour was evident. He never complained, but bravely endured. He will be missed!

Heartfelt gratitude goes to our Salvation Army Church family for their love and prayers, and to the many in our housing complex, whose offers of help and understanding were welcomed. And very special thanks to Dr. Quentin Smith, the fantastic team on 3N Medical at CGH, Parkholm and Valleyhaven staff, Hugh & Kathie, and Tom & Joanne. You all made our journey so much easier.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 10:30 am at The Salvation Army Community Church, 46420 Brooks Avenue, Chilliwack, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, and in the spirit of giving that was so much who John was, donations to The Salvation Army Food Bank, or The Salvation Army Fireside Addictions Services, (care of 46420 Brooks Avenue, Chilliwack, BC, V2P 1C5) would greatly benefit others. Thank You.
