John Dekker passed away on Friday, Feb. 20, 2004 at home, surrounded by his family, at the age of 71 years.
He was born February 26, 1932 in Barneveld, The Netherlands.
John is survived by his loving wife Dirkja; son Karl (Darlene) and his daughters, Margaret (Gleyn) and Pauline (Steve); grandchildren, Debbie, Deanna, Kyle, Kevin, and Danielle; brothers, Dirk, Evert (Tina) in the Netherlands, and Jake (Corrie) in Chilliwack; sister Heintje (Henk) in the Netherlands; sisters-inlaw, Aaltje, Gerrie in the Netherlands, and Wilma in Chilliwack; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Gerrit and Arie in the Netherlands, and Bessel in Chilliwack.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Reformed Congregation of North America with Rev. T.R. Treur officiating.
Pallbearers are Karl Dekker, Steve Luteyn, Gleyn Klaassen, Art Dekker, Pete Dekker, and Gary Dekker.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the Canadian Diabetes Association.
