John Rodney Carmichael

July 3, 1966 – Fernie, BC

May 24, 2016 – Calgary, AB

We said our heartfelt good-byes to a loving husband, father, son, brother, and cherished friend. John lost his brave battle with Leukemia, surrounded by his family. He faced his cancer with grace and dignity, and battled relentlessly throughout his journey. John’s witty sense of humour and positive attitude were inspirational for his family, friends, colleagues and medical personnel. John’s family was always his greatest love and his highest priority. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Angela; their children, Ashley, Brent and Curtis; his parents, Mary and Rod; his sister, Karen; mother and father in-law, Audrey and Jack Short and other family members. John’s greatest passions were spending time with family and friends, giving back to the community, and staying active through jogging, walking, golfing and skiing. He loved sports, camping, history, politics, and telling stories. Throughout his life, he was a mentor to many and a master at building relationships. A special thank you to the Unit 38 Team at Peter Lougheed Centre for their compassionate and unwavering care. Friends and family are invited to celebrate John’s life at Southwood United Church (10690 Elbow Drive SW) on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:00 am, with internment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to Light the Night Walk for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada at
