May 19, 1931 - January 29, 2020
John Braun, born May 19, 1931 to Gerhard and Margareta (Bueckert) Braun in Kronstal, Ukraine, the 8th of 9 children.
He was impacted greatly by the famine and war taking place in his youth. At 16 he travelled across Poland to E. Germany and escaped to the British Zone in W. Germany. He was reunited with his father and sisters in Canada in 1949 through MCC. In 1954 he had a dramatic encounter with God, giving his life over to Him and was later baptized in the Full Gospel Church in Winnipeg. His work as an orderly was very fulfilling to him both in Winnipeg and Chilliwack hospitals until his retirement in 1992. He met and married Sophie Ziesmann in Winnipeg in 1956, moving to Chilliwack in 1960. They were faithfully involved in churches, serving the Lord. His beloved Sophie, whom he tenderly cared for passed away in 2014. Then much time was spent in Bible reading, prayer, and singing hymns. John was eagerly looking forward to his heavenly home to be with the Lord he loved and this was realized on January 29, 2020.
He is survived by children Ron (Brenda) and Marlene and sister, Elsa. We would like to thank the staff at Cottage Pavilion for their loving and compassionate care of John this past year.
