Johannes Ruissen passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at the Bradley Centre at age 70 years.
He was born August 2, 1936 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Joe is survived by his sisters, Janna Steinhauer and Jozina Willis; his brother Cornelis J. Ruissen and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Adriana Sanders; brothers Jacobus J. Ruissen, Adriaan Ruissen and Jan J. Ruissen.
Joe spent much of his adult life in Port Alberni, BC where he served as a volunteer fireman and was employed for many years with distinction as the Returning Officer for both Federal and Provincial elections. He worked his early years as a Property Assessor for the City of Port Alberni, after which he became an Independent Real Estate Appraiser until his retirement.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 24th, 2007 at 1:30 pm from Bethel Netherlands Reformed Congregation, 8920 Broadway St., Chilliwack, BC.
In memory of Joe, donations may be directed to the BC Lung Association in his name.
