John was born September 11, 1945 in Ophuesdan, Holland.

John passed away in Royal Columbian Hospital on Saturday, May 26, 2012.

He will be missed by his wife Carroll of 43 years, by his daughter Melinda and her husband Scott, his son John, his daughter Heather and her husband Steve and his daughter Angela, his 9 grandchildren, Dakota, Brandon, Taylor, Brianna, Braxton, Haley, Jayda, Parker and Cole.

John will be missed by his brothers, sisters and their spouses, many, many nieces, nephews and friends and their children. John was “Uncle” to so many, and 1 Uncle in Holland.

He was predeceased by a baby son in 1975, his Father and Mother; Gerrit & Wilhelmina Vermeer, his sister and brother in law; Sien and Arie Arends.

John immigrated to Canada and settled in Chilliwack in 1953 at the age of 8, with his parents and siblings; they sailed across the Atlantic to Montreal then traveled across Canada by train to Chilliwack. John spent most of his life in Construction and for a time he owned a shoe repair shop in Merritt, B.C and Chilliwack, B.C.

John was very involved with chuck wagon and chariot racing, he loved to hunt and go fishing. John and Carroll and their children and grandchildren loved camping.

John put his everything into whatever he did. He was a great man and touched the lives of many, many people. He lived his life giving his heart to all. He now has gone to be with the Lord.

Service will be Friday, June 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm First Ave. Pentecostal Assembly 46510 First Avenue, Chilliwack, B.C.
