Johann (John) KLEINDIENST

March 10, 2006

Johann (John) Kleindienst passed away in the early hours of March 10, 2006. John was born February 11, 19191 in Spinalow, Poland and had been a resident of the Tabor Home in Abbotsford for the past 1 ½ years.

John, his wife Gerda and family immigrated to Canada in 1951, settling on a three acre “farm” in Greendale. In those early years, he worked in construction. Later he worked for York Farms as part of the maintenance crew, until his retirement.

He was a hard worker and a self-reliant man, who provided for his family and who was always willing to help his children, grandchildren and others. Visits from family and friends, gardening, fishing, and watching hockey on TV, were some of the things he enjoyed.

John was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Gerda in 1999 and by his son, Alfred.

John is survived by his children: Karl (Audrey) Tepper; Gerry (Walter) Warkentin; Helmut (Carol) Tepper; Heidi (Tom) Liebe; Herb (Helen) Kleindienst; Ruthe (David) Nevett; Harold (Doreen) Kleindienst; 18 grandchildren (Cindy, Roger, Carrie, Marnie, Kristi, Brad, Jeff, Tom, Ryan, Tammy, Kevin, Ken, Teresa, Shaun, Jennifer, Karen, Carmine and Cristen) as well as 24 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ruth Seemann and her children.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at First Mennonite Church Greendale with Pastor George Hoeppner officiating. Interment in Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the First Mennonite Greendale Youth Group would be appreciated.

The family appreciates the care Dad received at the Tabor Home.
