Sue Hall is saddened to report the death of her beloved “Mom”, Joan Baldwin, who died suddenly on February 25, 2008, after a long illness. God took her home at the age of 79. Joan was born in England on July 26,1928.

After studying her nursing and midwifery training, she worked for a number of years, before coming to Canada in 1966. She worked her way across the country, eventually settling in Chilliwack in 1981.

She received her “modern day miracle” (a kidney transplant) in January 1988, which gave her a new lease on life. She lived a radiant life, loved camping, fishing and travelling. She was a loving and devoted friend and a profound lady who touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with.

It has been so hard for all of us to say good-bye to her. She is irreplaceable and will be sorely missed by her friends and family.

Joan is survived by her sister, Eva (Reg Butler); her niece, Linda (Steve) Abbott; nephew, George; loving “daughter” Sue, Steve, Wendy and Rawlis Butler, and her dearest and oldest friend Flo Wright

She was predeceased by her mother Jessie in 1962.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave. Chilliwack.

If friends so desire, please plant some Daffodils in your garden and remember Joan every time they bloom, as they were her favourite flowers.

Donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC Branch, #200, 4940 Canada Way, Burnaby, BC, V5G 4K6 (800-567-8112).
