Jean Stevens Stohrer

On January 11, 2017 with Helen & Laurie by her side, Jean spread her wings and rose on a gust of wind to join the party in Heaven that was waiting for her. The little red haired girl was born in Tisdale, Sask. on November 17, 1932 as the oldest sister to brother Jack (Diana), and sisters Shirlee & Lorna. Her first husband Jim Thompson drowned in 1953, and from this marriage she had 2 daughters Helen & Beverley. She married Kurt Stohrer and they had a son Kurt. Jean was a strong woman who survived lung cancer and the loss of many loved ones, her daughter Beverley (2004), husband Kurt (2008), and son Kurt (2010). She is survived by eldest daughter Helen (Joe), granddaughter Laurie and her children Charis and Paden; grand-daughter Tonya and her daughter Breanna; and daughter-in-law Trina and her children Patrick, Sabrina and Andrew. Dementia robbed the matriarch of her final years with her family. She went into care in 2014. Thank you to Laurie and Joe who helped navigate us through this challenging course. Jean's loves were the Canucks, knitting socks, driving, painting her gnomes & birdhouses, gardening and volunteering with the Chilliwack Hospital Thrift Store but it was her family first. The family will be walking for the second year in the Alzheimer's Walk in Burnaby on Sunday May 7, 2017 to raise money for research. Please contact compound@telus.net for more information on the event as well as the date for the Celebration of Life.
