Jean Mae ZANT

May 3, 2005

Jean Mae Zant (1921 - 2005) passed away peacefully May 3, 2005 at Eagle Ridge Hospital Coquitlam, B.C. Free of pain at last, and now in the hands of the Lord.

Jean was born at Melfort, Saskatchewan, Nov. 16, 1921. The oldest of five daughters to Ray and Josie Dickie. Predeceased by sisters Bessie and Norma. Leaving behind two other loving sisters, Lois and Marjorie.

At a young age, she met Tommy Zant who worked as a gold miner in Northern Manitoba and Ontario. Jean and Tom were married in 1940, and raised two sons Morley and Warren at Bissett, Manitoba.

In 1951, they moved the family west and settled at Rosedale, B.C. Tom worked construction jobs all over B.C. while Jean worked at various jobs around Chilliwack — at a laundry, York Farms cannery, and the Chilliwack Hospital. Tom and Jean had a small hobby farm on Pelly Road where they raised beef cattle and Shetland ponies.

Predeceased by her husband in 1973, Jean then moved into town and never remarried. She remained in Chilliwack until last spring, when she moved to Coquitlam, B.C. to be closer to family.

She will always be remembered for her strength of character, her shoot-from-the-hip attitude, total devotion to her two sons, Morley (Sandra) of Coquitlam, B.C., Warren (Gina) of Merritt, B..C.; six grandchildren: Laurie, David, Darren, Shawn, Levanna and Colton; also seven great-grandchildren. Family was the most important thing to her.

Mom will be cremated and joining her husband Tommy at Little Mountain Cemetery to be together again, overlooking the valley they loved so much.

Jean will be sadly missed and always loved by her family and friends.
